Soko3an - making the numbers behave

In a realm ruled by math and magic, you ended up as an underpaid accountant. No dragons, no glory. Just you and a bunch of heavy integers that won't move themselves. It’s not the heroic life you dreamed of, but even a wizarding world needs someone to push the numbers around until they finally behave.

WASD or arrow keys to move; OR tap/click in the direction you want to move

Gameplay

While clearly inspired by Sokoban, this game is about pushing numbers around and changing their value. Where they are doesn't matter, so long as you make the target number somewhere (numbers are read top to bottom / left to right). While it draws on may of the skills that Sokoban does, I tried hard to make it fresh and different, complete with the fantasy setting and theme. Did I succeed? Tell me!

Features

  • keyboard, mouse, touchscreen, and gamepad support
  • progress is saved, but also all levels are unlocked from the start at least during development
  • gentle difficulty curve (some might say too gentle).
  • watch out for the troll
  • some levels have more than one solution, if you are willing to take (many?) extra moves.

Cute game! I do agree that the levels  feel kind of pointlessly big, but I don't feel that it takes too much away from the gameplay.

This was really fun! I like how much freedom you have in how to go about solving the levels, it's honestly kind of relaxing to play.

The one critique I have is that the levels probably have too much unnecessary space. It's not fundamentally an issue but when combined with the slow-ish walk speed it gets a bit tedious, especially when the levels involve more back tracking.

Thanks for playing and giving feedback too!

Interesting, didn't realize the walking speed was slow. I actually have the reverse issue, it's too easy to over-walk. Maybe a cueing system were you could stab the arrow key 3 times to move 3 spaces? hard problem to solve, all solutions have tradeoffs.

Wow, the third sokoban math submission. Great minds think alike!

I know! Something must have been in the news that fed us the idea. "A shipping container containing many boxes of integers capsized today and fleets of tugboats were called to recover and organize the mess".

Or something ;-)
